    The AAVMC is excited to announce the annual call for volunteers!

    We invite you to contribute your time and talents to help advance the association's mission. 

    By volunteering, you not only help AAVMC grow more energized, diverse, and inclusive, but you also become an integral part of the progress we make together toward our shared goals.

    Deepen your engagement with AAVMC, make a meaningful impact, and grow within a community committed to excellence in veterinary education.

    The following committees are accepting applications for volunteers. Please review the criteria for each committee/vacancy. 

    Please note the number of vacancies listed beside the committee's name.

    ·      Admissions and Recruitment Committee (1)

    o   Associate Dean

    Term expires April 2028 with an opportunity for reappointment.

    ·      Wellbeing Committee (2)

    o   We invite applications from wellbeing professionals, faculty, assistant deans, associate deans, and deans within Colleges of Veterinary Medicine who are dedicated to enhancing wellbeing across academic veterinary institutions. Ideal candidates will possess a systems-level perspective on wellbeing initiatives, demonstrate a track record of implementing innovative and creative solutions within their institutions, and maintain a focus on progress without being deterred by obstacles. We are particularly interested in leaders from the dean's office who have experience in identifying and overcoming institutional barriers.

    Term expires April 2028 with an opportunity for reappointment.

    ·      Advocacy Committee (4)

    o   Dean representing Departments of Veterinary Sciences/Depts. Of Comparative Medicine

    o   Dean representing AAVMC Provisional Institute

    o   Dean representing U.S. Colleges/Schools (2)

    Term expires April 2027 (2-year term limits to align with Congress)

    ·      JVME – Journal of Veterinary Medical Education Editorial Board (3)

    o   Must have prior publications as a first or corresponding author in peer-reviewed journals. NOT limited to JVME.

    o   Need to include citations for their prior publications. 

    o   Must have prior experience as a peer reviewer for JVME. 

    o   Must be faculty, staff, or administrator at an AAVMC-affiliated institution.

    Term expires April 2030

    Applications are generally accepted every fall. Once you select an opportunity and submit your application, it will be reviewed by the AAVMC liaison. You will be notified of the outcome within a few weeks.
