Bio

Dr. Bagley graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986.  He completed a small animal internship and Internal Medicine residency at Cornell University, and completed his residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at North Carolina State University.  Dr. Bagley is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in both Neurology and Internal Medicine.  He is the author of over 200 scientific articles, abstracts and book chapters related to neurology, neurosurgery, and internal medicine and has presented over 300 scientific presentations including national meetings and internationally.  He has authored 2 books: “Fundamentals of Veterinary Clinical Neurology” and “Practical Small Animal MRI.”

            Dr. Bagley was the Chair of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine for 11 1/2 years from 2009-2020. He assumed the Chair position in 2009, and has also served as Executive Director of the Lloyd Veterinary Teaching Hospital and as Associate Dean of Clinical Operations. He is a Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery however coordinates and teaches in the “Vet is Society” professional courses of Veterinary Careers, Ethics, and Communication.  He is the current faculty Director of the Emerging Leaders Academy at Iowa State University.  In addition, Dr. Bagley is a certified trainer in Crucial Conversations™ and Everything DiSC®.
